The President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubalies' mother, Angeles Bejar, has locked herself in a church to record a protest for the way his son is being treated, reported ESPN on Monday.
Bejar has no intention of getting herself out of that church until the authorities find a solution to the "inhuman and bloody hunt they are conducting against my son with something he doesn't deserve".
"There is no sexual abuse since there is consent on both sides, as the images prove," Bejar told EFE news agency as she questioned "why they're taking it out on him" and what "is behind this whole story".
"My son is incapable of hurting anyone," Bejar said.
This happened on the same day the Spanish Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation against Rubiales offering Spain's striker Jennifer Hermoso to file a complaint against him for "sexual assault".
"The sexual act was not consented," said the Prosecutor's Office.
Rubiales cannot catch a break ever since he kissed Hermoso during the medal-distributing ceremony after the Women's World Cup final, which has not only shattered his image but also put his future at risk.
He has since then been called out by top footballers, FIFA and ministers from Spain.
While he has been consistently defended by the Spanish federation, FIFA provisionally suspended Rubiales from all football-related activities for 90 days on Saturday (August 26).
Meanwhile, on Sunday (August 27), Spanish minister Maria Jesus Montero also bashed him and stated that he should never be allowed to manage Spanish football again.
"Rubiales cannot manage Spanish football again," Montero said. "We had enough of him when he spoiled the great triumph of women's football with his intolerable attitude."
Earlier, Rubiales confirmed that he will not resign from his post while also making a claim that the kiss with Hermoso was consented.
"The desire I could have for that kiss to Jenni was exactly the same as I could have kissing my daughters. No more, no less," Rubiales said on kissing Hermoso.
“The kiss was consented. She (Jenni) was the one who lifted me up and brought me closer to her body. And I said to her: 'a little bit?' and she said, 'okay',” he added.
It must be noted that Hermoso right away rejected these claims.
